Rescue Me ID: 17-01-01-00082Suzi (female)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Suzi is a 3-year-old blue tick coonhound mix with the perfect disposition. She absolutely adores people of all ages and will always choose to be laying close to people if given the option. Suzi is extremely mellow and is one of the quietest hounds you will ever meet. She rarely barks, even when the neighbor dogs are barking at her. Her favorite things are going on walks and car rides, and while walking wants to say hello to anyone along her route. She can pull on her leash, but generally adjusts her excitement to the person holding the leash and allows her 6-year-old foster sister to walk her. She is extremely smart, figuring out the ... (Read More)dog door in her foster home in just a few minutes and will kennel herself in the mornings when her foster family picks up their bags to go to work and school. Suzi can be trusted to be out during the day at home, but her foster family generally kennels her while away, just in case the kids have left some food out where she can reach it. She is perfectly housebroken and while she is dog door trained, she will also go to the door and wait to be let out when a dog door is not available. She adores the other dog in her foster home and does well with most other dogs as long as she has a proper introduction. Suzi ignores the kitties at the pet store for adoption, but was a little too interested in the one she met face to face, so she would be better in a feline free home. When she first arrived from the shelter, she showed some food aggression with the other dog in the house, but that has faded away over time and has become a non-issue in her foster home. She has never shown any human aggression, even around food and has young children in her foster home. Suzi does have some severe allergies that are currently being managed through prescription dog food and medications. She arrived with skin and ear infections and her skin is now totally healed with her hair growing back in where needed. Her dog food is readily available and is being purchased from an online supplier for about $80 for a 6-week supply. 99% of the time, you can simply put her pill in her bowl with her dry dog food and she will take it without issue. The other 1% of the time, she will eat it from her foster mom's hand with about 5 pieces of dry dog food-it is amazing. Her daily pills cost about $80.00 a month, with occasional rebate offers available. She is spayed, HW- and current on vaccinations. Suzi is such an extraordinary dog that deserves to be in a forever home of her own where she is loved and cared for. Rescue Me ID: 16-12-06-00404Cooper (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This smile says it all, doesn't it? Cooper is a happy boy who loves life and is always on the go looking for a new adventure or friend! This boy is a mover and a shaker, but most of all a mover, who would enjoy being active with his family. We think this kid would make an awesome running partner or agility dog, where he could show off his stamina and his desire to please his person. He gets a little nervous in new places, but with someone patient and a little work, we think he would really enjoy discovering the world since he does so well in the car. Cooper is a hound/terrier mix -- really an All-American boy and completely unique. He ... (Read More)loves to play with other dogs, and has a rough and tumble personality with a bold play-style -- not for dog playmates who are faint of heart! Cooper is working on learning to share toys, but could live with other pups and thrive so long as boundaries are set and followed by his family. Cooper loves puzzle feeding toys and is one smart cookie! Cooper is an adolescent dog, so he will need someone to continue showing him how to be the best dog he can be. He's a loving boy and very loyal, a kid who likes to keep his people close, but is also fine hanging out and chewing a bone rather than demanding constant attention. We think Cooper is as special as they come and we cannot wait for him to find his family. If you think that may be you, apply today! Cooper is microchipped, UTD on shots and is neutered. If you are interested in Cooper, please fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-09-09-00197Rex (male)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rex!! Rex is a Jack Russell /Pug mix who is 6-7 years old! Rex knows his name but chooses to ignore it if preoccupied with important doggy business. Usually, though, he will come when called. He's a happy dog who wants to be loved and really likes tummy rubs. He also likes to play with other dogs but may fit best in a home with only one other dog about his same size or where he's the only dog. When he's not playing he wants to 'protect' his person from other dogs and has picked up a few nicks as a result. He should probably go to a home with no children under about 10. He's apparently been spoiled and, if he doesn't want to be picked ... (Read More)up or give up his toy, he does growl but has never actually snapped. He would be a good watch dog; he did not like the Cox repairman coming into our yard but once properly introduced he was fine. Rex also enjoys enthusiastically running around the back yard and laying in the sun. His preferred spot is on top of the patio table. He can jump and climb and loves to sit on the highest spot. He respects boundaries like fences and baby/pet gates. He is not entirely crate-trained but will go in to eat or if motivated by a treat, so he can likely adjust to it. At this time, he is accustomed to spending nights outside the crate and has behaved well. He is housebroken and has had no accidents. He likes to go on rides in the car. Rex does reasonably well on a leash but would do better with a harness. He wants to be a lap dog and if he can't actually be in your lap, he wants to be close by. He likes toys, especially knotted balls. He may know the 'sit' command. Rex is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped. If you are interested in Rex, please fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org (Less)
