Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Scout, and I'm an 8 year old female Hound mix. Most people don't believe that's my real age because of my adorable puppy face! I came from a shelter and Tennessee, and I'm so happy to be living in a loving home like every dog should! I'm a pretty go with the flow kind of girl. I love to go on walks so I can sniff to my heart's content. Every human I meet is an instant friend, and I get along great with other dogs. Unfortunately there was a time in my life when daily meals weren't a guarantee, so I prefer to eat alone without other dogs around. After I'm finished, it's play time! I'm also very content to take naps most of the ... (Read More)day. I can find a cozy spot to curl up just about anywhere! I love when my foster mom is home with me and usually follow her everywhere, but I know she has to leave sometimes. I have no problem going into my kennel, and I pass the time by sleeping until she comes home. I'm completely potty trained and a master of the 'sit' and 'stay' commands. I'm also current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed, and micro chipped. I came to my foster home with a case of 'happy tail' which is why my tail is bandaged. It doesn't bother me one bit, and the vet says it is on the mend. Overall, I am sweet, loving, loyal, and excited to find my furever home!     Hi my name is Yogi, I am a big beagle! I am 3 %BD years old and 43lbs. I am an owner surrender, I didn't get along with the resident cat! So NO Cats! Some nice people got me to Omaha where I'm now safe. I love walks and am very treat motivated. I love to play with toys, and the other dogs. I do play a little fetch but need some work on bringing it back! I would do well with other dogs and someone to keep me company! Foster mom here, Yogi, is a sweet boy that is looking for a nice home. He does well with other dogs and with a 6 year old! He is house broken and lets you know when he needs to go out. He doesn't like the kennel but does well ... (Read More)when I'm gone. He is Heartworm Positive and is going through treatment, he has his first treatment coming up on July 24th, this doesn't mean he can't be adopted, it just means you would have to follow through with the treatment. Heartworm is very treatable and they do well with it. He would do with a fenced in yard so he can go out and lay in the sun!!! Yogi is current on vaccinations, neutered, and micro chipped. He is currently undergoing Heart Worm treatment. if you are interested in Yogi, please fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org (Less)

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sara beagle in the house? There could be! This is how my foster mom greets me every day when she comes home. Since I am a very polite, I wag my tail at her, even though everyone else rolls their eyes. The truth is, I wag my tail a lot. Not just for her corny jokes. But when I see dogs. Or cats. Or kids. I love everyone. Since I'm about 7 years old, I'm past the chewing stage and am smack dab in the middle of the snuggle stage. Naps are high on my list of quality entertainment. Once in a while though, that puppy energy comes shining through and I run around the house and roll around on the floor. My foster mom believes that I may have ... (Read More)been a cat in a former life because I like to curl up in little hidey holes around the house. My favorite spot is the back of one of the kitchen cupboards. I curl up and take a little nap in there. While I prefer to not be in the kennel, I will go in without too much of a fuss. I am also working very hard on my potty training. If you take me outside, I will go potty. I am working on learning how to tell you that I need to go. If you are looking for a gentle lady that loves everyone, I'm your girl. Basset Hound    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

***ADOPTION PENDING*** Hi. My name is Mr. Bailey (Bailey for short) and I am a 7.5-year-old Bassett Hound. A real, snorting, waddling, ear to the floor, low riding, arrroooooing, Bassett. Pull up a chair and I will tell you my story. This first part is a little sad, but I promise, it gets better. I came to BBRH because both my owners passed away. I sort of lived in a house by myself for a bit and our nice neighbor took care of me. I was fond of my life in Missouri and it was so scary to leave my house. Although, I was getting pretty lonely. BBRH came to the rescue! (on to the happy part) I currently live with my foster family in Topeka, ... (Read More)Kansas. My foster parents love to spend time with their two dogs, Brady, a 3 year old Beagle (BBRH alum) and Reagan, a 4 year old hound mix. Even though I'm the biggest dog in the house, I am the lowest to the floor (Bassett joke). I love playing with the other dogs. We can get pretty rowdy, but being a sausage boy, I don't jump up on the people. (Do they call this vertically challenged?) Being a seasoned dog, I know the ropes. I potty outside and am quick to do my business. I like walks, but let's keep them short%BD'%BD|...like me (Bassett joke). I also like to warn my people of vermin with a robust ARoooooo. From the Dictionary of Bassett Hounds: 'Vermin are people, mailmen, bunnies, squirrels, and other critters that enter the yard in the hound's presence.' Unlike other hounds, I only find it necessary to use my commanding voice when I am outside. I really love my foster family; they help comfort me when I miss my old life in Missouri. I love to snuggle, sit on their laps (I am 67 pounds of pure love), and play with the other dogs. I enjoy snoozing on my own bed, but didn't like the kennel. I am a seasoned dog you know, and I know how to behave in the house without supervision. (Looking at you, Brady). If you really want to get in good with me, scratch my belly when I flip on my back. I hope my future family has another a dog for me to spend time with. I have really enjoyed being with Brady and Reagan. If you don't have other pups, I would love to have someone at home to spend time with. I'm still getting used to the idea of not being at my old house, so my new family will need to give me extra love. I am not sure that I have met a cat before, I really don't know if I will like them or not. I have never been around a little human before. I'm sure that I would like them, but make sure they walk%BD'%BD|otherwise they tend to trip over us low-riders! I am current on my vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped!     ***ADOPTION PENDING*** Hi my name is Cletus but my foster mom calls me Sir Cletus the Brave on account of how brave I was during the recent tornado that came through our neighborhood recently. I didn't run and hide but followed everyone right to the basement. I am a basset/terrier mix and I am 2-3 years old! I love to play with other dogs but cats probably aren't my thing because I get really excited to chase all the furry animals and birds that come in our yard. Oh did I mention my how much I love kids. I'm pretty good when I play with them and don't bite but my foster mom says sometimes I can jump on them and she has to remind me to ... (Read More)stay down. I love to cuddle too so if you need a cuddle buddy I'm your guy. I'm pretty small for a basset mix so just the right size to sit in your lap. If you want to play catch I'm your guy for that too and will play until you tell me it's time for a break. I'm getting the hang of basic commands pretty quickly and know to potty outside. I'm not the biggest fan of the kennel but go in when I'm asked and behave myself until I'm let out. So want to be my forever home? Cletus is current on vaccinations, micro chipped, and neutered.     Hi Future Mom or Dad! My name is Daisy and am a 10 year old Beagle. I might be mature and curvy, (I am working on the curves) but I have the spirit and heart of a dog half my age. I want two things in life running around in a very secure fence (like to dig my way out) and to snuggle with you. I love belly rubs. I do have some minor health issues. A partially torn ACL on my back left knee. And arthritis in the joints. For the knee and joints I get a daily dose of a joint chewy and fish oil. I have seasonal allergies and I take Benadryl to help relieve my symptoms. I get along with the 3 resident cats. I avoid them they avoid me, it's a ... (Read More)win win situation!! My foster mom has a middle-age Beagle that I love hanging out with. I get along with other dogs. I do prefer the older dogs and not the puppies or overly jumpy dogs. I'm seeking someone that is home most days for I can keep an eye on the squirrels. I would love to have another dog to snuggle and to help patrol the yard with me. Since, I have joint issues and slightly older I prefer no young kids under the age of 10. Love, Daisy Daisy is current on vaccinations, HW negative, spayed, and micro chipped. Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

***ADOPTION PENDING*** Charlie is a 5-6 year old beautiful beagle and true hound dog. He loves going for walks, sniffing everything and being outside as long as someone is with him. A fenced yard would be great for him. He does really well around children and other dogs. Charlie is not fostered with cats, so we are unsure on how well he would do. Loves attention, especially petting and rubbing his belly. He does enjoy chewing on rawhide bones and will scrounge for any kind of food. Has had occasional accidents in the house, but not sure if that is just because of the medicine he has been on, which makes him very thirsty. He gets very ... (Read More)excited when you have been gone and come home or when you let him out of his kennel in the mornings. Charlie is current on vaccinations, and micro chipped.     Hi there! My name is Judd, and I'm about 8 years old. I'm a former breeder dog and I am discovering the joys of being a pet. Because of my unique past I can be a nervous around new people, though I'm slowly warming up and gaining trust. More importantly, I'm small and cute and really just want to snuggle up on the couch. I like snuggles and pets from humans who I have grown comfortable with and trust, too. I love other dogs as they help give me the confidence to come out of my shell though I do prefer to eat my food on my own. Now that I've become comfortable with my new foster family, I have discovered the most wonderful things, ... (Read More)TOYS! I love to chew on them, run around with them and then cuddle them when I am done. It took me a while but I have finally learned to not potty in the house, though sometimes I still need to be encouraged to go outside. My foster family has a toddler, and while I've finally learned to trust him after 3 months and let him pet me, I would probably be happier in a home without small children, or where they just visit occasionally as boy can they make a lot of scary noises and move so darn fast. My ideal home would be a quieter one where I can take some time building up my confidence, preferably one with either no kids or older kids. I really would love a home with other dogs, particularly female dogs, who I can play with and who can continue to show me the ropes of being a pet. I need a fenced yard as well as I don't really walk on a leash yet. The world is still rather scary so I tend to freeze up on a leash and prefer to be carried. I know I may sound like a lot of work and it will take me some time to get comfortable but I promise once I do I will reward you with lots of love and snuggles and will be your little shadow for life. Can you continue to help me blossom? Oh I'm told I should tell you that I'm fully vaccinated, micro chipped, heartworm negative and neutered (that was not fun!).     Hi My name is Hunter...... I am 6 years old but I act like I am 3. I am a beagle/terrier mix who weighs around 18lbs I love my foster family, they have spoiled me rotten !! I am timid when you first get to know me, but I am not aggressive at all. Unless there is food, then I am a scavenger, after all I am a hound! You have to watch me I had to fight for my food my foster mom thinks. When you aren't looking, I make my move I never hurt anyone, I am just after food! My foster mom thinks I got left outside a lot because I don't like to go into the backyard and have the door close. I will just sit by the door until someone lets me in. I ... (Read More)do have accidents in the house occasionally. I really don't do that on purpose but, it is because I am afraid you will leave me outside and forget me. My foster mom leaves the back door open so that I can go outside and come right back in. I love to snuggle and I am happiest lying next to you. I sleep every night with my human foster brother. He has nightmares and I help him sleep. I can point too because my foster mom said who ever had me before used me to hunt. But I don't hunt, I am a lover! I will do good with other dogs it will just take a little time. I don't mind cats and birds too but I like to chase cats and tell them I am the boss. Do you want to be my Fur ever home I would love to snuggle with you Right now I have heartworm disease, but I am working on getting that all cleared up so I can be nice and healthy for my forever home!! Rescue Me ID: 17-03-08-00108Roscoe (male)

Treeing Walker Coonhound    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

PLEASE CONSIDER THIS SWEET BOY TO ADD YOUR HOME!!! Roscoe is a very sweet and gentle older Treeing Walker hound around 7 years of age and weighing about 60 pounds. He has a very sad face, but that's just the way he was born'|.with his sweet hound dog face!! He also has long soft luscious hound dog ears that are made for petting! He was found in rural MO. after being hit by a car. As a result of being hit, Roscoe had to have his back left hind leg amputated. He had his leg amputated shortly before coming into rescue in January, 2017 and has learned how to navigate without his leg very well. He walks well on a leash but short walks ... (Read More)are best due to his amputation. Roscoe had to have some teeth extracted also, so he's not really into nylabones or other chew toys. Roscoe would prefer a quieter home. He is fine with children. He gets along with other dogs and cats. Roscoe is an independent, easy going fella, and he would be comfortable being the only dog but seems to enjoy being around his foster dog siblings. He will follow and bark at them while they play, so it may be good for him to have some other canines around to give him confidence. Roscoe's favorite things are treats, lying in the sun, treats, head and neck rubs, treats, howling at sirens and more treats. I think Roscoe feels most comfortable outside as he was probably an outdoor dog, but he definitely loves to be inside to sleep at night or if it's cold out. Roscoe is potty trained but his foster home has a doggy door, so he would need time to establish a new routine if his new home does not have one. Roscoe loves his crate and feels very safe in it. He used to sleep in his crate every night, but is now venturing out and will sleep on a blanket in the living room. The door is open to the crate, and he has access to the rest of the house, but he feels comfortable there and will spend quite a bit of time in there. Roscoe is still very timid and learning that he can trust people. Over the six months he has been in foster care, he has connected well with his foster family and has come out of shell. He will need some time and patience to trust when he goes to his new home. Roscoe is definitely one of the sweetest and gentle hounds his foster family has ever fostered. Roscoe can also be trusted to not be crated while left at home alone. He is not destructive and just relaxes. Roscoe is current on vaccinations, been heartworm tested and tested negative and is on heartworm prevention. He is neutered and micro chipped. If you are interested in Roscoe, please fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-01-01-00082Suzi (female)

Bluetick Coonhound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Suzi is a 3 year old, 50lb. coonhound mix with the sweetest disposition. She is an extremely intelligent dog and figured out the dog door in her foster home in under an hour without any coaching. She will go stand at the door to go outside if a dog door is not available. Suzi loves to be with her people and will follow you anywhere, but she especially loves to go on car rides. Suzi does well with the other dogs in the house, but does have a strong prey drive for smaller animals. Suzi has ignored the kitties at the pet store, but was a little too interested in them one on one, so she would prefer to be in a home without cats. She would love ... (Read More)to have a canine playmate or trips to the dog park if she is an only dog. Suzi was initially food protective with other dogs, but not humans, and this has disappeared as she has become accustomed to a regular feeding schedule. She has never shown aggression with a human of any age, even around food. Suzi has severe allergies that restrict her food choices to a readily available prescription dog food (about $80 a month) or a recipe created especially for her by a veterinary nutritionist that is easy to prepare. She receives weekly allergy shots as well as medicated baths and occasionally other medications and she takes them all like a champ. She will approach her foster mom and sit for her when she sees the needle and vial come out for her weekly injections and will take pills willingly with a few pieces of her kibble. We have just started a new allergy treatment and she is responding so well, we are phasing out her pills and possibly her allergy shots. The new treatment should last 4-8 weeks and we are watching to determine this time frame for her. Each treatment is $89. She is great with kids of all ages, but would be better off with children old enough to understand not to feed her due to her allergies. She has small children in her foster home that she adores and is the dog celebrity in the neighborhood. Suzi is a foodie and likes everything whether she is allergic to it or not, so care must be taken to ensure human food is out of reach. Suzi is extremely mellow and loves spending time laying on the dog beds or whatever soft blankets she can find closest to you. She rarely barks, even when the neighbor dogs are greeting her loudly. She sleeps through the night and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She knows 'sit' and 'go to bed' and she has started kenneling herself in the mornings when her foster family picks up their coats and bags to head out for the day. Although she does not like being in her kennel, she rests quietly once inside. She arrived with skin and ear infections due to her allergies, but is completely healed. Suzi shares t-shirts (youth small/6x) with her human foster sister to prevent her from scratching and biting her skin. She is working on leash training as she gets so excited about being out that she pulls on a leash. She would love to finally be in her forever home after being bounced around a few times through no fault of her own. She is a wonderful dog just looking for a soft place to land. She is spayed, HW negative and up to date on her vaccinations. Are you the special home for this special girl?     This smile says it all, doesn't it? Cooper is a happy boy who loves life and is always on the go looking for a new adventure or friend! This boy is a mover and a shaker, but most of all a mover, who would enjoy being active with his family. We think this kid would make an awesome running partner or agility dog, where he could show off his stamina and his desire to please his person. He gets a little nervous in new places, but with someone patient and a little work, we think he would really enjoy discovering the world since he does so well in the car. Cooper is a hound/terrier mix -- really an All-American boy and completely unique. He ... (Read More)loves to play with other dogs, and has a rough and tumble personality with a bold play-style -- not for dog playmates who are faint of heart! Cooper is working on learning to share toys, but could live with other pups and thrive so long as boundaries are set and followed by his family. Cooper loves puzzle feeding toys and is one smart cookie! Cooper is an adolescent dog, so he will need someone to continue showing him how to be the best dog he can be. He's a loving boy and very loyal, a kid who likes to keep his people close, but is also fine hanging out and chewing a bone rather than demanding constant attention. We think Cooper is as special as they come and we cannot wait for him to find his family. If you think that may be you, apply today! Cooper is microchipped, UTD on shots and is neutered. Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Meet Rex!! Rex is a Jack Russell /Pug mix who is 6-7 years old! Rex knows his name but chooses to ignore it if preoccupied with important doggy business. Usually, though, he will come when called. He's a happy dog who wants to be loved and really likes tummy rubs. He also likes to play with other dogs but may fit best in a home with only one other dog about his same size or where he's the only dog. When he's not playing he wants to 'protect' his person from other dogs and has picked up a few nicks as a result. He should probably go to a home with no children under about 10. He's apparently been spoiled and, if he doesn't want to be picked ... (Read More)up or give up his toy, he does growl but has never actually snapped. He would be a good watch dog; he did not like the Cox repairman coming into our yard but once properly introduced he was fine. Rex also enjoys enthusiastically running around the back yard and laying in the sun. His preferred spot is on top of the patio table. He can jump and climb and loves to sit on the highest spot. He respects boundaries like fences and baby/pet gates. He is not entirely crate-trained but will go in to eat or if motivated by a treat, so he can likely adjust to it. At this time, he is accustomed to spending nights outside the crate and has behaved well. He is housebroken and has had no accidents. He likes to go on rides in the car. Rex does reasonably well on a leash but would do better with a harness. He wants to be a lap dog and if he can't actually be in your lap, he wants to be close by. He likes toys, especially knotted balls. He may know the 'sit' command. Rex is current on vaccinations, HW negative, neutered, and micro chipped. If you are interested in Rex, please fill out an adoption application at www.bassetandbeagle.org (Less)
